Teacher's guide to assessing and diagnosing learning difficulties
The process of diagnosing children with learning difficulties involves many procedures and requires the use of more than one measurement and diagnostic tool. The difficulty in measuring, diagnosing, and evaluating children with learning difficulties stems from the multiplicity of components or dimensions of mental ability, and the personal, behavioral, and temperamental characteristics that these individuals possess.
The process of measuring and diagnosing students with learning difficulties requires considerable effort and time, in addition to a specialized team of consultants and specialists to determine the components and dimensions of the student with learning difficulties.
This book aims to provide assistance to specialists and teachers in identifying children/students with learning difficulties within schools, as well as identifying the distinctive characteristics of students with learning difficulties, and helping teachers and parents to identify these characteristics. It also helps in identifying the non-standardized tests used in the assessment process, identifying the mechanism for applying these tests, understanding their role in assessing students with learning difficulties, being able to write the psycho-educational report, and preparing educational plans based on the psycho-educational report.

When a family is blessed with a baby, every mother dreams that the child will be healthy and well. If the child is delayed in any aspect of growth and development, this delay may be a matter of time, but sometimes it becomes an indication of learning difficulties in the child.
Raising a child with some challenges is a unique journey that requires unlimited patience and love. Mothers face unique challenges on this journey that require special skills and the ability to adapt. Hence came the idea of this book to be a comprehensive guide for mothers. In it, we will cover some simplified information and scientific advice that can help mothers deal with their children and provide them with the necessary support to overcome the challenges they face in the form of questions and answers to facilitate mothers’ access to information or questions they have directly instead of searching through specialized references.
Among the most prominent challenges a mother faces while raising a child with learning difficulties are anxiety and stress, as worries creep in about the child's future and the challenges of daily life. The mother usually discovers the problem in her child after he starts school, when signs of learning difficulties appear, such as a lack of focus during lessons, being easily distracted, or being assigned tasks that he cannot complete completely.
We hope that this book will contribute to raising mothers’ awareness of their children’s needs and the challenges they face, and that it will provide support, advice and knowledge to mothers who are looking for information, and that it will contribute to enriching mothers’ culture and helping them to follow the best ways to deal with children and to search for appropriate services for them, educational systems and support them academically and in life.

Reading is the window to human thought that leads to all kinds of different knowledge, and with it, an individual can travel in every time and place while sitting in his chair. Therefore, the discovery of reading by man is considered the first of the civilizational developments that we are living through now.
Reading is one of the most important means of acquiring knowledge and is the basis of success in studies and life in general for all individuals. However, it is one of the most common problems that students with reading difficulties suffer from in the educational process, which significantly affects their academic achievement and their interaction within the classroom, and which falls under learning difficulties, as these students need special support in learning reading skills.
Education that relies solely on the transfer of information from teacher to student is no longer effective in the present time, as our world today is witnessing a surge in technological achievements that have affected all aspects of scientific and social life, and which have been reflected in education.
Using computers as an educational technology enhances self-directed learning, helping teachers address individual student differences. Computers can even act as teachers through educational software. They serve as teaching tools to help language learners develop their language skills.
This is what will be highlighted in this book, due to the great importance of using computers in the process of teaching reading, as they provide many visual and auditory stimuli that contribute to attracting students’ attention and increasing their motivation to learn.

Dyslexia, or reading disorder, is one of the most well-known learning difficulties and has attracted the most attention from scientists and educators. This is because reading is one of the most important basic skills upon which the educational process is built, and without it, the learner cannot move forward in his educational journey. The presence of a group of students suffering from dyslexia within the classroom would affect the general level of students and cause a waste of time and effort in light of the lack of sufficient experience and awareness on the part of the teacher about this phenomenon and how to deal with it in the correct way that benefits these students.
What increases the importance of the phenomenon of dyslexia is the ambiguity of its symptoms and the lack of awareness of it, which makes the exclusion and marginalization of students with reading difficulties the prevailing methods of dealing with this group, in the absence of special care that qualifies these individuals to overcome the difficulties they suffer from, and to engage positively in purposeful activities inside and outside the classroom.
The above leads us to question the nature of dyslexia, its causes, manifestations, and treatment. Hence came the idea for this book, to contribute to providing basic and explanatory information about the phenomenon of dyslexia, which came in four consecutive chapters.
